El Estado Bolívar representa hoy en día uno de los principales destinos ecoturísticos por excelencia de esta tierra de gracia, al reunir en esta región los más bellos e indescriptibles paisajes naturales de Venezuela y el mundo. No en vano, se dice que el verdadero Dorado que buscaban los españoles en época de la colonia esta representado en las riquezas naturales de esta región (oro verde). En el Estado Bolívar, los turístas pueden disfrutar de importantes museos y sitios históricos, algunos de los más impresionantes parques y otros sitios de interés turístico.
Museos y sitios históricos
Casa de Los Gobernadores de La Colonia: desde los balcones de esta casa el Libertador Simón Bolívar presenció el fusilamiento de Piar. Se encuentra ubicada en Ciudad Bolívar, al sur de la Plaza Bolívar.
Casa de San Isidro: aquí el Libertador escribió su famoso discurso al Congreso de Angostura. Es una bella mansión colonial que fue la residencia del Libertador desde 18181 a 1819. Está ubicada en la Av. Táchira de Ciudad Bolívar.
Museo de Ciudad Bolívar: se encuentra ubicado en una espaciosa edificación en donde se editaba "El Correo del Orinoco", el primer periódico publicado en Venezuela. La primera edición se realizó en junio de 1818, y los turistas pueden ver la prensa original que era utilizada para la edición del periódico, además de otros objetos propios de la historia de la región y una colección de pinturas modernas.
Museo de Arte Moderno Jesús Soto: tiene una excelente colección de obras de este renombrado artista, así como trabajos de otros modernos artistas nacionales e internacionales. Se encuentra cerca de la Av. Briceño Iragorry.
Parques
Parque Cachamay (Salto La Llovizna): este exótico parque esta formado por un conjunto de saltos de agua que forman visos de gran belleza a orillas del Río Caroní.
Parque Nacional Canaima: por su gran extensión (alrededor de tres millones de hectáreas) es considerado uno de los más grandes parques nacionales del mundo y es hoy en día el principal destino ecoturístico de nuestro país. Este parque nacional se encuentra ubicado en la Región de Guayana, en el Estado Bolívar. Dentro de este parque, los turistas encontrarán la caída de agua más grande del mundo, el Salto Angel. Una infraestructura turística aceptable conformada por hoteles, operadores turísticos y guías se conjugan para ofrecer una atención que permite disfrutar de maravillosos y ricos escenarios naturales.
Parque Loefling: tiene un pequeño zoológico con animales de la fauna local.
Sitios de Interés Turístico
Cueva Sima Humboldt (Sarisarimaña): es el abismo más grande del mundo con una profundidad de 350 m. el ancho de su boca es de 352 m. Se encuentra al sur del Estado Bolívar.
Cerro Bolívar: tiene 12 Km. de largo y 4 de ancho y su punto más alto tiene unos 500 m. sobre las sabanas más próximas. Las reservas de mineral de hierro comprobadas, químicamente libres de impurezas, son de 400 millones de toneladas. Está a 120 Km. al sureste de Puerto Ordaz, en las cercanías de Ciudad Piar.
Río Orinoco: es una majestuosa corriente de agua, con un curso total de 2140 Km., su anchura máxima se encuentra en el Delta, entre Piacoa y San Rafael de Barrancas con 20 Km., su caudal es de 18.000 m3 por segundo. Este majestuoso río es navegable desde Puerto Ayacucho hasta su desembocadura; y desde Ciudad Bolívar, pueden navegar barcos de gran calado.
Salto Angel: es el salto de agua más grande del mundo, con una caída de 1005 m. desde lo más alto del Auyantepui, a 2580 m. sobre el nivel del mar. Fue descubierto en 1937 por un piloto americano llamado Jimmie Angel. Los turistas pueden ver al frente del aeropuerto el legendario avión que utilizó este piloto americano cuando descubrió al Salto Angel, ya que este avión fue removido del tope del Auyantepui en 1970 y restaurado en Maracay. También existe una replica de este avión en el Museo Aeronáutico de Maracay.
Saltos del Caroní: la indescriptible belleza de estos parajes constituye uno de los más preciados tesoros turísticos de Guayana. El más famoso de ellos es el de La Llovizna, próximo a Ciudad Guayana.
Represa de Guri: es una excelente obra de ingeniería realizada para aprovechar las aguas del Río Caroní. Para construir el embalse se inundó una zona de 80.000 hectáreas de superficie; con un muro de concreto armado de 270 metros de altura. Posee 10 turbinas. Está localizado en el Cañon de Necuima, a 9 Km. al sur de Macagua.
Puente de Angostura: une a Ciudad Bolívar con Soledad, pueblo perteneciente al Estado Anzoátegui, conviene visitarlo por su atractivo turístico. Está a 5 Km. de Ciudad Bolívar. Tiene una longitud de 1678 metros y es de 5,30 metros de ancho.
La Siderúrgica del Orinoco: es un complejo industrial cercano a Puerto Ordaz que produce lingotes de hierro y una serie de productos manufacturados. Esta en continua expansión.

Today, the State of Bolívar is one of the country's principal ecotourism destinations. This region has the most beautiful and indescribable natural landscapes in Venezuela and the world. Museums and Historic Sites
Casa de Los Gobernadores de La Colonia: from its balcony, Simón Bolívar saw the execution of Piar. Situated in Ciudad Bolívar, on the south of the Plaza Bolívar.
Casa de San Isidro: in this place the Libertador wrote the message for his famous Address of Angostura. Residence of the Libertador from 1818 to 1819. The house interior is maintained in the style of Bolívar's era. It is located in the Avenida Táchira, Ciudad Bolívar.
Museo de Ciudad Bolívar: it is located in the same building where it was published "El Correo del Orinoco", the first newspaper in Venezuela. Here, the republic's first newspaper was printed from June 1818 until 1821, and the tourist can see the original press on which it was done, along with other onjects related to the town's history and a collection of modern painting.
Museo de Arte Moderno Jesús Soto: the museum has a good collection of works by this renowned kinetic artist, as well as works by other national and international modern artists. It is located near to Avenida Briceño Iragorry.

Parque Cachamay (La Llovizna Waterfall): this exotic park is located in Puerto Ordaz on the banks of Caroní river, consisting in a-series of waterfalls which offer a very beautiful view.
Canaima National Park: this park has an area of 3,000,000 hectares. Its one of the highest national park in the world and it is one of the country's principal ecotourism destinations. Canaima is located in the Guayana Region, in the Bolívar State. Here the tourist will find the highest waterfall with an altitude of 1,005 meters (3,297 ft.) the Salto Angel. In this park, we have one tourist infrastructure conformed by many campings, hotels, tour operators and more that allows to enjoy wonderful and rich natural scenarios.
Parque Loefling: it has a small zoo featuring native fauna, with some animals in cages and others (including tapirs, capybaras and Capuchin monkeys) wandering freely.
Interesting Touristic Sites
Cueva Sima Humboldt (Sarisarimaña): it is the greatest abyss in the world, located on the southern part of the Bolívar State, has a depth of 350 meters (1,148 ft.) and mouth is 352 meters wide.
Cerro Bolívar: it is 12 Km. long and 4 Km. wide. It is highest point is about 500 meters (1,640 ft.) above the nearest plains. The proved iron mineral reserves, chemically pure, are estimated to be 400 million tons. It is located 120 Km. southeast of Puerto Ordaz, near Ciudad Piar.
Río Orinoco: it is a majestic body of water which during the rainy season largely overflows its riverbed. Its course covers a total length of 2,140 Km. the widest part of the river is in the Delta, between Picoa and San Rafael de Barrancas with 20 Km. wide; its volume is 18,000 cubic meters per second. You can navigate on the river from Puerto Ayacucho up to the place where it flows into the Atlantic Ocean, and from Ciudad Bolívar largeships are able to navigate on its waters.
Salto Angel: it is the highest waterfall in the world, with 1,005 meters (3,297 ft.) high from the top of the Auyan-Tepuy, 2,580 meters (8,465 ft.) above the sea level. Commonly known to the English-speaking world as Angel Falls, this was discovered by the American pilot Jimmie Angel in October 19, 1937. In front to the airport, the tourists can see the legendary airplane that this American pilot used when he discovered to the Salto Angel. The Aeronautical Museum of Maracay also has a replica of this famous Jimmie Angel airplane.
Saltos del Caroní (Caroní Waterfall): the indescribable beauty of this place constitute one of the most valuable touristic treasures of Guayana. The most famous of these waterfalls is the Salto La Llovizna, near Ciudad Guayana.
Represa de Guri (Guri Dam): it is an excellent work of engineering made to benefit from the waters of the Caroní river. For the building of the dam, it was required to flood an area covering 80,000 hectares with a concrete wall 270 meters (886 ft.) high. It has 10 turbines. It is located in the Cañon of Necuima, 9 Km. south of Macagua.
Puente de Angostura (Angostura Bridge): it links Ciudad Bolívar with Soledad, a town from the Anzoátegui State, touristically attracting it is well worth visiting it. It is located 5 Km. away from Ciudad Bolívar. The bridge covers a span of 1,678 meters and it is 5,30 meters wide.
La Siderúrgica del Orinoco (Orinoco Iron and Steel Mill): it is an industrial complex located near Puerto Ordaz and produces iron ingots and series of products. It is always expanding its structures.
